The Move it or Lose it Annual Healthy Ageing Conference
Please join us on Friday 19th September at The Studio in Birmingham for our annual healthy ageing conference.
As always we have a great line-up of leading academics, scientists, experts and influencers sharing tips on how to live well and promote healthy and successful ageing.
This is a fantastic opportunity to ask questions from experts in the field of healthy ageing and enjoy meeting and networking with like-minded people, all working together to reimagine and transform the way we age.
We’re delighted to be joined by:
Tony Watts OBE – Adding life to your years
Tony has been writing and campaigning in the later life zone for over 35 years, including editing the UK’s first national newspaper for older people and representing older people in Government in a number of roles. His passion is trying to persuade decision-makers to view the challenges and opportunities of our ageing society holistically – “joining the dots” between health, care, isolation and housing, and between later life employment, pensions and poverty – and he runs the 200-strong Age Action Alliance as a collaborative, knowledge-sharing network.
In 2014 he received an OBE for his services to older people.
Professor Anna Whittaker – Unlocking the Physical and Psychological Benefits of Movement
Professor Anna Whittaker is a Professor of Behavioural Medicine in Sport at the University of Stirling. Join us for an insightful talk exploring the key physical and psychological benefits of physical activity in later life. Drawing on recent research, particularly studies conducted in care homes, she will delve into the impact of resistance training and other forms of physical activity on the physical, social, and psychological well-being of older adults. She will also examine the role of technology in promoting physical activity for ageing populations.
Professor Paul Greenhaff – Muscles, metabolism and medication: strategies for staying stronger for longer
Registration opens at 9:30am and the conference runs from 10am to 4pm, refreshments and lunch are included.
The venue is The Studio, 7 Cannon Street, Birmingham B2 5EP which is a few minutes walk from Grand Central Train Station with several great hotels nearby.
Please note that all conference bookings are non-refundable.
