Move it or Lose it selected to join ground-breaking project to boost national physical activity
We are thrilled to announce that Move it or Lose it has been chosen as one of 39 organisations to take part in a critical project aimed at enhancing the physical activity for health pathways across England. This initiative, supported by Active Partnerships National Organisation (APNO), seeks to bridge the gap between healthcare and physical activity providers, thereby fostering a more active lifestyle for individuals living with, or at risk of, long-term health conditions.
Julie Robinson, CEO of Move it or Lose it, emphasises the importance of this initiative in promoting healthier living:
“We are excited to be part of a project that could have a transformative impact on the nation’s health. By working collaboratively, we aim to create a future where physical activity is at the forefront of health and wellness pathways.”
The Physical Activity for Health Pathways project, funded by Sport England, is designed to foster collaboration between healthcare systems and activity providers. Through this partnership, Move it or Lose it will join one of five communities of practice to co-create guidance, information tools, and resources that will be instrumental in promoting physical activity within the health sector.
Annie Holden, Strategic Lead for Health at Active Partnerships National Organisation, shared insights into the project’s significance:
“Currently, one in four of us is living with multiple long-term health conditions, and this number is projected to rise to two-thirds for those aged over 65 by 2035. Our healthcare systems are under significant pressure, yet physical activity has the potential to prevent up to 40% of these conditions and manage over 20 common physical and mental health conditions. Our collaboration with Move Consulting and Coventry University will enable us to create pathways that are both effective and sustainable.”
The inclusion of Move it or Lose it in this pivotal project underscores our commitment to promoting active lifestyles and improving public health. By combining our expertise with the research and development efforts of APNO and its partners, we aim to drive a significant shift toward a healthier, more active nation.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work alongside APNO and other leading organisations to shape the future of health and physical activity pathways. Let’s Move it or Lose it for a healthier tomorrow!
