Course Description.
This CPD will give you a greater understanding of Parkinson’s Disease and how the symptoms affect movement and general health.
You will also learn how to adapt exercises for people in the different stages of the disease so they can gain maximum benefit from participating in group exercise classes.

- Improve your understanding of Parkinson’s Disease
- Improve your understanding of the effects of Parkinson’s Disease
- Know how to adapt exercises to suit clients with Parkinson’s Disease
- Improve your knowledge and confidence to ensure you work within your scope of practice and know when to refer to a health professional for further information or support
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this CPD course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an improved understanding of Parkinson’s Disease, including its causes and progression.
- Recognise the effects of Parkinson’s Disease on movement, coordination, and general health, and understand how symptoms may change over time.
- Confidently adapt exercise routines to suit clients at different stages of Parkinson’s Disease, ensuring safety and effectiveness in group exercise settings.
- Understand the benefits of physical activity for people with Parkinson’s and how to encourage participation while considering individual abilities and limitations.
- Gain the knowledge to work within your scope of practice, and know when to refer clients with Parkinson’s Disease to healthcare professionals for further guidance or support.
The afternoon session will be practical, looking at ways to progress, regress and adapt exercises for individuals with Parkinson’s in your classes. You will be asked to demonstrate exercises individually and as part of a group, although this is not formal assessment, we do encourage observation and peer support.

Online – Saturday 25th October 2025
The training day is 10am-4pm.
For the online CPD day, we will use Zoom (please check your system requirements here) to deliver these CPDs so you will require a stable internet connection. Please read the requirements for completing your practical CPD online here. By booking an online date, you’re accepting you will meet the requirements outlined.
Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear to participate – trainers are recommended.
